Tips For Betting On Packers Bears – Packers And Bears Meet With NFC North On The Line
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers have warred all season long for the NFC North. The Packers can seal the division with a win, while Chicago can create a tie after 14 games.
Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears – Sunday, December 16
Sport betting line: Green Bay -3
Why Green Bay Will Win
If you want to make a winning bet on this game, here's why you might want to pick the Packers: First of all, Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher, such a cornerstone of this team's defense and the iconic player for the Bears franchise over the past 15 years, is out for this game and might not be back until week 17. Urlacher is a spiritual leader and a terrific performer. He leads more by example than by words, but he carries so much weight in the Bears' locker room and is such a universally respected figure in Chicago's inner sanctum. Not having him on the field will be a big loss for the Bears, a deficiency they will struggle to adjust to. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers knows that he is operating behind a patchwork offensive line, but knowing that Urlacher will not be patrolling the middle of the field should give Rodgers the dimension of confidence he needs to perform at a higher level, lifting the Packers to victory.
The other big reason to take Green Bay here is that Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler is not right. Following a concussion he suffered a few weeks ago, Cutler has not been able to regain peak form. He was horrible last week against the Minnesota Vikings, throwing two interceptions that led to 14 Minnesota points, with one of those interceptions being a pick-six. Based on current form, Cutler is not even close to being ready for this contest.
Why Chicago Will Win
When NFL betting students settle in and assess this game, they might consider the Bears for this reason: Green Bay is still very much a mash unit on both sides of the ball. Linebacker Clay Matthews, cornerback Charles Woodson, receiver Jordy Nelson, and others are still on the shelf. If by chance they're able to play this upcoming Sunday, they're still not going to be anywhere close to full speed, which means that Chicago has a very good chance of containing them and limiting their effectiveness.
Playing at Minnesota in a domed environment last week was not a good spot for the Bears. Playing at home, outdoors and in the elements with a raucous crowd behind them, should suit their preferences and give them the kind of environment in which they should be more comfortable, especially on the offensive side of the ball. If Jay Cutler plays to his capabilities, the Bears should be able to exploit Green Bay's injury-riddled secondary, and that would give Chicago the scoring production it will likely need in this game.
Who Will Win
The Bears are playing at home, but Green Bay is a more confident team, and the Urlacher injury is simply coming at the wrong time for Chicago. Take the Packers here.
