Tips For Betting On Panthers Eagles – Panthers, Eagles Ready For Surprising Monday Night Football Matchup
Both the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles entered this sports betting season with high expectations for the coming year. That makes the fact that both teams have already all but been eliminated from playoff contention heading in to their Monday Night Football matchup for week 12 that much more surprising. The 2-8 Panthers travel to Philadelphia this Monday to face the 3-7 Eagles, and while a win would do little for either team in terms of competing for the postseason, a loss could move their respective coaches one step closer to a potential exit.

NFL Betting Line: Carolina Panthers – 2.5
A six-game losing streak has already pushed fans in Philadelphia to call for head coach Andy Reid’s dismissal, as it marks the longest winless streak since he took over as the team’s bench boss. Meanwhile, Ron Rivera isn’t much more comfortable after his team took a step backward this season, a year in which they were expected to compete for the playoffs.
NFL Betting Preview: Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have dropped back-to-back games since snapping a five-game losing streak of their own with a win over the Washington Redskins, and inconsistency has been the biggest factor in their struggles all year. 2011 Rookie of the Year Cam Newton has taken a step back with nine touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions and nine fumbles, but a big part of that could be his desire to do more on an offense that hasn’t helped him out. Newton actually leads Carolina in rushing yards with 394 despite a seemingly capable running back tandem with Jonathan Stewart and DeAngelo Williams, while it hasn’t been much prettier on the defensive side of the ball where the Panthers rank in the bottom half against both the run and the pass.
NFL Betting Preview: Philadelphia Eagles
Reid can relate to Rivera’s position of coaching a quarterback that hasn’t met expectations, although in the case of Philadelphia passer Michael Vick the reality remains that his days with the Eagles are limited. Vick is likely to be replaced by rookie Nick Foles once again this week because of concussion symptoms, but after throwing two interceptions and getting sacked four times last week it isn’t as though Foles is expected to be the savior. Philadelphia needs to make a stronger commitment to its rushing attack with running back LeSean McCoy leading the way, and it will be crucial to avoid the costly turnovers that have plagued the team so far.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The fact that neither team is in playoff contention heading in to this matchup is somewhat of a surprise, and it isn’t as though most sportsbook players expected this to be the situation heading in to this week’s MNF. The Panthers are favored on the road thanks in big part to a stronger talent level, and this is a game that Newton and Carolina simply need to have to keep any optimism rolling in regards to next season.
