Tips For Betting On Steelers Broncos – Steelers Look To Spoil Manning’s Season Debut
The Denver Broncos have complete confidence that Peyton Manning is healthy and ready to handle the rigors of a full 16-game sportsbook season with half of the games at a high altitude, in bad weather, and against some of the best NFL defenses. When the Pittsburgh Steelers arrive at the Mile High this weekend, the main priority will be to make the Broncos second-guess that decision. Pittsburgh will look to get at Manning early and often to set the tone for an important game for both teams. The last time they played here it was Tim Tebow throwing the winning touchdown pass in overtime and sending the Steelers home with an AFC Wild Card round loss, and while Tebow is gone the black and yellow are looking for revenge.

NFL Betting Line: Denver Broncos – 1.5
Manning’s progression has looked good this preseason and the Steelers will have had to review the tape from the win over San Francisco. While all of the talk is about the four-time NFL MVP, there is a two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback on the other sideline in Ben Roethlisberger who doesn’t seem to be getting enough attention.
NFL Betting Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers
Roethlisberger has looked good in new offensive coordinator Todd Haley’s offense early on, and while the Steelers will run the ball more than they did a year ago, the passing game will remain the overall focus. It took some time but Mike Wallace is back on the field and so is Antonio Brown, giving Pittsburgh a pair of explosive receivers that could come up with big plays at any point in the game. Isaac Redman is expected to start at running back as Rashard Mendenhall works his way back from injury, and he should be just fine. The Steelers’ defense is a little banged up with linebacker James Harrison out and Ryan Clark once again not able to play because the sickle cell trait he carries affects him at high altitudes, and those losses will be hard to overcome.
NFL Betting Preview: Denver Broncos
The Broncos don’t have the same list of injuries but it will be important to see how Manning reacts when he takes one or two big hits in this game. Manning has done an excellent job avoiding pressure by getting the ball out quickly throughout his career, and will have a full stable of running backs to rely on as well with Willis McGahee, Lance Ball, and Knowshon Moreno each getting touches. The Denver defense took a major step forward last season and have two elite pass rushers in Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil, so expect them to be all over Roethlisberger from the opening frame.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
The sports betting losses of Harrison and Clark will be tough for the Steelers’ defense to handle, but they do have strong depth and shouldn’t be in too big of trouble as long as they can get pressure on Manning up front. Defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau was embarrassed by what Tebow did a year ago to his top-ranked pass defense, and will look to set the tone from the first quarter with a ton of different looks. Manning has always struggled against the 3-4 defense and will face a good one in Pittsburgh, and while good things will come if he stays healthy it is going to take some time for him for all of the new Broncos’ pieces to get in sync.
