Tips For Betting On Titans Buccaneers – Titans’ Quarterback Battle Continues As Schiano Makes Home Debut For Tampa Bay Friday
The consensus around the NFL last season was that there was several teams disappointed they had not pushed harder to land free agent quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. After throwing for over 3,500 yards and 18 touchdowns in his first year with the Tennessee Titans, Hasselbeck now finds himself in quarterback battle with second-year passer Jake Locker. The 36-year old was intercepted twice on just 10 pass attempts against his former team in a 27-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks week one of the preseason, and will need to be better this Friday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with Jake Locker pushing for a starting role.

NFL Betting Line: Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 2.5
The Buccaneers have no such controversy at the most important position on the team, with Josh Freeman fully entrenched in the starting role. Freeman reaffirmed his commitment by shedding weight and getting in to the best shape of his life in the offseason, and he looked good completing 4-of-5 passes for 41 yards in his only series of a 20-7 win over the Miami Dolphins in Tampa Bay’s exhibition opener.

Locker completed 7-of-13 passes for 80 yards and didn’t turn the ball over in the Titans’ preseason opener, but should be pushed a little harder in this second game. Head coach Mike Munchak revealed after last game that the quarterback competition had narrowed, so look for both passers to come out strong as they fight for the starting job. Running back Chris Johnson had just eight yards on five carries for Tennessee in its opener, but Javon Ringer and Darius Reynaud both rushed for over five-yards per carry. Middle linebacker Collin McCarthy finished sixth on the defense in tackles last season, and looked very good against the Seahawks, including an interception on Matt Flynn.
NFL Betting Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers were due for a change after a 4-2 start collapsed in to a string of 10-straight betting losses in which former head coach Raheem Morris lost his locker room en route to a 4-12 finish. Reports out of camp are that new head coach Greg Schiano is in complete control and running a tight ship, and that showed up in Tampa Bay’s win over the Dolphins. The Buccaneers’ defense didn’t give up a point until midway through the third quarter in Schiano’s debut, while the offense scored on each of its first two possessions. Rookie running back Doug Martin and veteran LaGarrette Blount each ran for a score, while backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky completed all eight of his pass attempts for 91 yards. Defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan has been impressed with what he has seen from rookie weakside linebacker Lavonte David, who had an interception and two tackles in his pro debut, while another rookie stood out on special teams, with a 74-yard kickoff return from running back Michael Smith.
NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick
As important as the Titans’ quarterback battle is going forward this preseason, there is no guarantee that either passer will excel against the Tampa Bay defense, especially after what we saw from both teams in their respective exhibition contests week one. The Buccaneers are looking for redemption after last season’s collapse, and the online football betting odds are in favor of Schiano getting the job done in his home debut.
