NFL Football Betting: Week 15 Preview
There are only a few weeks left in the season but still lots to be decided. In the primetime marquee matchups for Sunday/Monday the league is batting .500, one game between division leaders and the other between also rans. In other action the Colts and Texans might decide the AFC South while Pittsburgh makes a push to be recognized among the AFC elite by hosting Denver.
Sunday December 20
Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts
No line currently listed
The Colts were supposed to run away from the division this season but nothing has gone as expected. There is no line on this one because nobody knows who will be under center when the game kicks off. It could be Clipboard Jesus aka Charlie Whitehurst. Luckily Houston is far from an offensive juggernaut so whoever it is will likely not have to produce all that much. I like the fact that the Colts are at home and expect them to win a hard fought battle. This line is probably Indy -3 when it comes online. Take the Colts to win.
Denver Broncos vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
It has been decreed that Brock Osweiler will start this one but Denver’s chances more likely hinge on whether their stingy defense can hold back Big Ben and the mighty Steelers offense. The Steelers are second in yards and fifth in points and have scored 30 or more in five straight games (winning four). They are nearly a TD favourites at home despite the fact that they are looking up at Denver in the AFC standings. I think the Steelers will score more points than Brock and the Broncs can manufacture. Just enough to cover. That half point is the key.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This is a battle between two first place teams in the NFC. The Cardinals have proven week after week they are elite and I believe this win guarantees them the NFC West and at least the second spot in the NFC, so there is still something to play for. For Philly, though they seem to be playing better, they are in a dogfight in the NFC East and every game is important. Look for the Cards to be loose and make the game changing plays to win this one easily. You can tease down that -3.5 but you probably won’t need to.
Monday December 21
Detroit Lions vs. New Orleans Saints
This game is meaningless but it could still be one of the more entertaining games of the week. Indoors, you can expect a lot of footballs in the air as two of the worst defenses will be on display. The Saints love to run it up and Matt Stafford of the Lions has enough weapons to trade scores with Drew Brees. It won’t affect the standings but this one will be fun. Take the Saints at home.
