NFL Football Betting: Week 9 NFL Preview
The so called prime time games are not all that exciting but overall this is a pretty good week. I am very interested to see how the Packers respond after last week’s loss and the Colts are still a mystery. We are at the midway point of the season and there is still lots to learn. It also might be time to toss some of those preseason notions that have been smashed to pieces and form some new ones.
Sunday November 8
Green Bay Packers vs. Carolina Panthers
This game took on new meaning after last week with the Packers losing and Panthers winning. Ignore the fact that Carolina is still undefeated, this game is huge because it would be a chance for the Panthers to go up by two games over the conference favourite. The Panthers can be mystifying at times but Cam Newton finds a way to get it done. Green Bay is the small favourite on the road but they have been looking a bit off all season long. I will take the points with Carolina +2.5.
Denver Broncos vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Broncos were impressive in handling the Packers last week, especially the defense which limited Aaron Rodgers to less than 100 yards passing. The game was at home though and they might find the challenge a little tougher on the road against Andrew Luck and the Colts. Any time they get a game against a real team outside the AFC South the Colts seem to stumble so this is an important test. They are underdogs by more than a FG at home. That is not supposed to be if they are looking to get back to the AFC title game. I sense a letdown for the Broncs. Take Indy at +4.5.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have really struggled this season, not having your best players will do that to a team. They are still not getting QB Tony Romo back for a couple of weeks but they have to find a way to get a win this week or else there may be no point in rushing him. Even though they are just 2-5 they are only two wins back of first place New York. They just haven’t been able to get any consistent offense without Romo but Philadelphia is far from a dominant defensive team. They beat the Eagles on the road win Week Two and are home dogs Sunday night. Tease them up to at least +3 for safety sake.
Monday November 9
Chicago Bears vs. San Diego Chargers
Nothing ruins a stand alone prime time game like a terrible matchup. Neither of these teams are going anywhere so the best we can hope for is some entertaining football. Both offenses are capable of torching the opposing defenses and hypothetically the players on the field should be excited to perform in front of a national audience. The Chargers are favourites at home but I don't like that -4.5 right now. Most of us action junkies have to get down on MNF but I think the total is the way to go. Go over 49.5.
