Bet On NHL Hockey – Before Second Round Starts, Vancouver-Chicago Must Be Decided

It’s been a great first round for online betting players in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and it’s still not over as the best team in the regular season still has to get rid of their nemesis and the defending Stanley Cup champions. In the next round, the action will really start to heat up.

Blackhawks Canucks Betting

The series that everyone expected to be over by now is the final series left in the Western Conference, and it’ll be decided on Tuesday night at Rogers Arena because the Blackhawks roared back from an 0-3 deficit to knot the series up at three games apiece. Chicago’s Game 6 4-3 overtime win may have been the best game of the playoffs if you take on and off-ice aspects into account as the Canucks benched No.1 goalie Roberto Luongo, who had been pulled in the previous two games, then had to put him back in net after Cory Schneider was hurt on a penalty shot. You have to wonder how that will affect Luongo, and he doesn’t need more things in his head when it comes to the Blackhawks.

Bryan Bickell will miss this game (and the duration of the playoffs in which Chicago will be playing) with a thumb injury, and the Canucks will breathe a sigh of relief as Bickell, along with Dave Bolland, has been a thorn in the side of the Canucks with his physical play. But the Blackhawks still have the horses to win; do they have the energy to complete the comeback? Tuesday’s game in Vancouver should be one for the ages.

Kings Sharks Betting

A lot of NHL betting players think of San Jose as underachievers, and for good reason, but some even thought they would meet their demise early in the form of a young Los Angeles team. But the Sharks showed their experience by coming back from a 4-0 deficit in Los Angeles in Game 3 to stun the Kings 6-5, and after that game, you never thought the Kings would win this series. The Sharks sealed the deal with a 4-3 overtime win in Game 6 in Los Angeles, their third overtime win of the series, and now they move to the second round.

Ryan Clowe had five goals and seven points to lead the Sharks, but the much-maligned Joe Thornton had a pair of game-winning goals, and maybe this will give him some confidence heading into the next round. One thing to worry about, though, is the play of goalie Antti Niemi, who was pulled twice in the series and has a 3.99 GAA and a .863 save percentage. The Sharks will need Niemi, who won the Stanley Cup in Chicago last year, to pick up his game quickly.

Coyotes Red Wings Betting

This was another upset special that had many NHL betting players rooting for the underdog, but in the end the Red Wings were simply too much for the Coyotes. Pavel Datsyuk had six points in the four-game sweep, but he was probably the dominant player of the first round as Phoenix had no answer for the Russian, who definitely picked up the slack for the injured Henrik Zetterberg. Another big edge for the Red Wings came in goal, where Phoenix’s Ilya Bryzgalov was supposed to get the better of Jimmy Howard, but the Coyotes’ netminder was terrible with a GAA of 4.36 and a save percentage of .878. Now, he says he won’t move with the team if they leave Phoenix for Winnipeg, which has been widely rumored, but Bryzgalov (a free agent) may not have much leverage after this collapse.

It was also unfair that the Coyotes had to deal with rumors of their team’s move during this series as they couldn’t concentrate on their opponent, and the Red Wings showed no mercy. Now, the veteran Red Wings can rest for a few days until their opponent for the next round is decided, and that depends on the Vancouver-Chicago outcome.

Predators Ducks Betting

The Predators finally made it to the second round in their sixth attempt as they downed the Ducks in six games, and after 2.7 goals in the regular season, Nashville averaged 5.5 goals in the first round. Mike Fisher was brought over in February to give the Predators some grit and leadership, which he added, and he also led the team with six points, but the biggest surprise, perhaps of the entire first round, has been Jordin Tootoo. The rugged winger had some problems with alcohol and entered rehab in December, but he has fought back and was a valuable part of Nashville’s first-round victory with his physical style, along with five points.

The Ducks’ big players did their part, scoring goals, and Bobby Ryan may have had the goal of the season in Game 5, but his suspension for stomping on Nashville’s Jonathon Blum was a black mark on the series, and Anaheim’s defense/goaltending was awful. It shows that no matter how much you can score, you have to be able to stop the puck in order to boost your sports betting odds.
