The recent trend of top teams losing and teams on the playoff bubble winning has not been lost on the sports betting world. As the March Madness betting starts to pick up and the anticipation towards the sportsbook promo NHL trade deadline builds, many teams are showing that they are tired of being on the outside looking in when it comes to the NHL standings. This weekend’s games should be very interesting for any fan of NHL hockey, especially those fans of teams that are trying to make a move.

Red Wings Sabres Betting – Saturday, 7:00 PM ET

The Detroit Red Wings are human after all. After spending much of January and February hot on the heels of the Vancouver Canucks for first place in the Western Conference, the Red Wings have lost two in a row and have fallen seven points from Vancouver. The Sabres will be playing the last game of a six-game home stand, and they need the win to stay in the Eastern Conference playoff hunt. Look for the Sabres to surprise the Red Wings in this critical game.

Penguins Maple Leafs Betting – Saturday, 7:00 PM ET

Now that we know that the Pittsburgh Penguins were all about Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the only question that remains is how far will the Penguins fall. The Penguins will be without their two superstars for the rest of the season, and with only three wins in their last 10 games, they are not adjusting well at all. The Leafs are now right in the thick of the battle for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Toronto is only four points away from eighth place Carolina, and the Leafs are riding a two-game winning streak. It is going to be very difficult for the Penguins to come out of the Air Canada Centre with a win in this game.

Hurricanes Canadiens Betting – Saturday, 7:00 PM ET

That creaking noise coming from Montreal is the sound of the wheels coming off the Canadiens. Both the Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes are struggling right now. Both teams have only won three of their last 10 games, but the Canadiens are losing conference games by the boatload. The Canadiens tried to give back up goaltender Alex Auld a chance against the Maple Leafs and Auld was gone by the beginning of the second period after giving up three goals on nine shots. The Canadiens are a wounded duck that the Hurricanes will pounce on.

Bruins Canucks Betting – Saturday, 10:00 PM ET

The recent collapse of the Montreal Canadiens is just fine for division rival Boston Bruins. The Bruins are holding on to first place in the Northeast Division and are currently riding a three-game winning streak. But Boston rolls into the home of the regular season experts – the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks have only lost five games at home all season long and are running away with the Western Conference. This will be a great goaltending battle and a hard-fought game that the Canucks should win.

Devils Panthers Betting – Sunday, 5:00 PM ET

Whatever new head coach Jacques Lemaire is whispering into the ear of the New Jersey Devils, he needs to keep whispering it. The Devils are 9-0-1 in their last 10 games and are currently riding an 8-game regulation-time winning streak. In the last two weeks, the Devils have easily been the best team in hockey and could pull themselves up from the Eastern Conference basement to the playoffs if they keep winning. The Panthers are quickly becoming an after-thought in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Florida has gone 3-6-1 in its last 10 games and is riding a two-game losing streak. When the Devils win this game, they will pass the Panthers in the standings and only be seven points out of a playoff spot.
