Sabres Flyers Betting – Sabres Hope Hot Finish Can Be Parlayed Into First Round Win

Posted by Don Melrose on 4/12/2011 4:15:33 PM
sabres flyers betting While the Original Six meeting between the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins will dominate the playoff headlines in terms of bad blood, there is no denying the rivalry that has developed between the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres over the years. The Sabres have taken the past two series’ between these online sports betting teams, but it will be extremely difficult for them to make it three in a row against a Philadelphia team that fell just short in the Stanley Cup finals a year ago. The Flyers are looking to prove that they deserve another chance to call themselves the league’s best, but after struggling down the stretch there are obvious concerns about the team’s condition and mindset heading into the sportsbook promo postseason. Philadelphia lost 16 of its final 25 games including five of its final six, and while some have said that their focus had already switched towards preparing for a long playoff run, there isn’t many that believe that they would want to enter a seven-game series with the Sabres this cold. On the other hand, Buffalo is red-hot entering the 2011 NHL playoffs, rising from outside of the playoff picture to finish seventh by earning at least a point in 34 of their final 45 games. That was without top-line center Derek Roy, who has been out since before Christmas but could be back in time if this series goes deep enough. Both Thomas Vanek and rookie Tyler Ennis will need to prove that they can perform with the pressure up a notch and a lot less room on the ice against a physical Flyers’ team that will be very physical. The difference in this sports betting bonus series could very well come down to goaltending, with veteran Ryan Miller matching up against Sergei Bobrovsky for the Philadelphia Flyers. Miller almost single-handedly carried the American team through the 2010 Olympics and to a silver medal, falling just short against Team Canada in a thrilling final. He proved that he can handle the pressure, and as long as he is healthy Buffalo is a legitimate contender in this series. Miller missed time late in the year with an undisclosed upper body injury, but he should be good to go when this series gets underway. Philadelphia made it all the way to last year’s finals despite some question marks between the pipes, and they aren’t likely to be that lucky again this time around. The Flyers are a bigger, deeper team than Buffalo is but strategy can play a big part in this game. If Buffalo head coach Lindy Ruff can make sure that his team plays a smart defensive game around Miller, then there is no reason that they can’t take this series by making the most out of their offensive opportunities. The Sabres will need to throw everything at the net, and if their netminder rises to the occasion, this series could end in an upset. Prediction: Sabres in Six
