Sports betting players have been glued to an enthralling Stanley Cup finals, and it’s fitting that it goes down to a Game 7 in Vancouver on Wednesday. The home team has won each game in this series, which doesn’t bode well for Boston, and the Canucks will earn the first Stanley Cup in their franchise’s history.

  • What: NHL Betting
  • When: Wednesday, June 15th, 8:00 PM ET
  • Where: Rogers Arena, Vancouver, British Columbia
  • Pick: Vancouver Canucks -150

Why Bet On Boston Bruins

The Bruins can take solace in the fact that they’ve kept their games close in Vancouver, losing all three by a single goal. However, close won’t get you to the Stanley Cup, so Boston will have to find a way to get over that hump. Boston’s game is based on physical play, and at home, they were all over the Canucks from the opening whistle, even to the point of being dirty at points, but if it’s not being called, all bets are off in the Stanley Cup finals. Goaltender Tim Thomas has been brilliant between the pipes and overall, he has outplayed Vancouver counterpart Roberto Luongo; it’s not his fault that the team has scored two goals in three games on the road during this series. Boston’s spark has come from Brad Marchand, the gritty third-line winger who may be remembered more for punching Daniel Sedin at least four times near the end of Game 6, but he has three goals and an assist in this series, and he is the catalyst for a lot of things that Boston do.

However, they can’t seem to take that play on the road with them, although it’s not like Boston has been getting blown out on the road like Vancouver. But the Bruins have to score the first goal in order to take the raucous Vancouver crowd out of the game in order to get a foothold in Game 7. Thomas has been fantastic in this series, but the Bruins have to give him some support in order to pull out this NHL betting upset.

Why Bet On Vancouver Canucks

At least the Canucks are returning home, where they bounced back from their atrocious games in Games 3 and 4 with a win in Game 5, and that should make Luongo more comfortable. He’s been pulled four times in the playoffs, and three of them came on the road. Like the Bruins, the Canucks feed off the energy of their crowd, and they play a more composed game at Rogers Arena, and they’ll need all of that composure for this massive Game 7. They could also use an injured teammate as motivation, much like Boston has done with Nathan Horton, as Mason Raymond is likely out with what reports are calling a fractured vertebrae, and while that hasn’t been confirmed, if you saw the hit by Boston defenseman Johnny Boychuk, you wouldn’t be surprised by the diagnosis.

However, in this game, the big key for the Canucks is that their best players have to be their best players in this game. Henrik Sedin and Ryan Kesler have combined for a goal and an assist in this series, and while some people think they’re banged up (which they probably are), everyone is hurt at this time of year, and they have to find a way to be productive in this final game. Even though Luongo has a pair of shutouts in three home games in this series, does Vancouver want to make this a matchup of goaltenders for this game? The Canucks have the advantage in every area but in goal, and their offensive players have to show up in this game.

How It Will Play Out

Vancouver is a -150 NHL betting favorite in this contest, and history is on their side as the home team is 12-3 all-time when it comes to Game 7s in the Stanley Cup finals. The last time it happened was in 2009, and that could give the Bruins a glimmer of hope as Pittsburgh went into Detroit and edged the Red Wings for the Cup. This is going to be a barnburner of a game and the tone will be set early with plenty of hits, and there should be another close game on tap.

Only three times in the history of the Stanley Cup finals has the home team won every game in a seven-game series, but you have to give a slight edge to Vancouver and Luongo at home. He won Game 7 against Chicago in Vancouver, and of course, there was the overtime win with Canada over the United States in the Olympics. All he has to do is be as good as Thomas, not better, and his team will take care of the rest. Bet on Vancouver in your online betting picks.
