Arlington Million Betting – A Million Reasons

Chicago fans have a million reasons to be excited Saturday as Arlington Park cards the 29th running of the one and a quarter mile Arlington Million on grass and online players have some juicy options.

The fixture was the first thoroughbred race to offer a million-dollar purse in 1981 and the great John Henry took the inaugural Million.

Last year, Debussy was coming off a fourth at York before shipping to the Midwest to get up by a half- length in the Million despite running into a roadblock at the top of the lane.

A solid field of 10 will pit skills so let’s look at them from the rail out with the official morning line noted.

Rahystrada (12-1) was a clever fourth in the Grade 1 Turf Classic two back at 21-1 and built on that race by cashing in mid-June at Colonial in a $500,000 stakes.

If you’re betting horses, be aware this guy has limited speed and will need help up front to get it done.

Dan Peitz saddles Tajaaweed, who is also tabbed at 12-1 and who has a nice home court thing going on. He just won the Grade 3 Arlington Handicap at this same distance but he has to prove he can beat this caliber foe. He was out of the money in the Million last year.

If you like Dean’s Kitten (30-1) you will get paid. Online horse betting players know he just chased home the rival on his direct inside in last and is seeking his first win of the year.

Zack Hall basically got good for about 4 months last year but has but a little dull this year. At 10-1 on the line, he is kind of the wild card as he comes in off a 4th in a Group 1 in France.

Gio Ponti at 2-1 will vie for favoritism with Cape Blanco. Gio has not won since last fall and chased Blanco home last time in the Grade 1 Man ‘o War.

Proceed Bee doesn’t belong as indicated in his 50-1 opening number while Cape Blanco will be saddled by world-class trainer Aidan O’Brien and the runner is sharp as a tack and a true specialist at this distance.

Reformed claimer Mission Approved (6-1) will try to steal this race. Claimed for $35,000 last year, he is best as a free wheeler up front and if he can slow it down early and lull the field to sleep, he just may get brave.

Wigmore Hall beat 11 rivals in Dubai to kick off 2011 but has gone the other way since and at 10-1, he has some things to prove.
General Perfect at 50-1 will have to be just that to win. You don’t see Garrett Gomez on longshots like this ever but this race is a far cry from running out of the money in a Grade 3 at Monmouth.

When the gates open, Mission Approved will lope to the lead. The pace figures to be very soft and his backers will get at least a brief thrill on the front end but it will change at the top of the lane.

That is when Cape Blanco will be unleashed and roll to the lead. Online sports betting players in his race could do much worse than to take a shot with him on top with Euro longshots Zack Hall and Wigmore Hall in the other trifecta slots.
Good luck.
