Recognizing rising stars in this great sport of horseracing is one way that online sports betting enthusiasts can try to get an edge on the competition and knowing about the 2011 first crop sires is one avenue to go.

When looking at the new studs in town you might as well start with the leader of the pack Hard Spun and his success in the breeding shed is no fluke.

A sensational racehorse in his own right, Hard Spun had the misfortune of being in the same generation as Street Sense and Curlin.

Fast enough to win the Grade 1 King’s Bishop at 7 furlongs with a 107 Beyer, Hard Spun also could carry his speed as he proved winning multiple Grade 2 races at 9 furlongs.

Through the first 11 months of this year, Hard Spun had 62 runners get to the gate and 22 came back with happy endings. His runners earned nearly $1.4 million and were led by Hard Not to Like, who won his debut at Woodbine going away, beat winners next out and posted his third career victory in a $250,000 stakes at 8 and a half furlongs.

When looking to bet on sports by gambling on or gambling against runners by Hard Spun, players have to understand this his runners are versatile, game and stout.

Two value stallions that should bring prices at the windows are Flashy Bull and High Cotton.

Flashy Bull took awhile to figure it out as a racer but he matured with grace winning the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap at a mile and an eighth with a 105 Beyer in his best moment. His yearlings averaged a very moderate near $34,000 price at the sales.

He won with 39% of his first 43 starters and proved he can get runners to win early as his Flashy Lassie won at first asking, took a Grade 3 next out and was a troubled 2nd in her third start.

Expect runners by Flashy Bull to be precocious speedy but possibly stamina challenged.
The son of Dixie Union, High Cotton, is a bargain stud at $2,500 for a live foal and his average yearling cost pennies over 19 grand but he has been solid in the shed.

As a performer High Cotton was solid but unspectacular at three winning a Grade 3 stakes in his best moment but after a tough luck beat in the Ohio Derby, he just was never the same runner.

A total of 12 of his first 29 starters won including his star Currency Swap, who freaked in his juvenile debut winning by 6 lengths with a 98 Beyer, then showed his versatility taking the Grade 1 Hopeful in the off going in game style.
The feeling is that his runners will only thrive with more real estate.

Other stallions that online sports book bettors should pay attention to are English Channel, Latent Heat and Mexico-bred Weather Warning, who won with 6 of his first 8 starters.

A diamond in the rough as a stud is a stallion named Attila’s Storm, who commands a fee of only $1,500 in New Mexico.
This Grade 1 placed Grade 3 winner won with 7 of his first 9 runners and offers players good value at the tote.

Remember, do your homework and look to these mystery youngsters to get that winning edge.
