What: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Preview
Where: Churchill Downs
When: Saturday, November 5th

The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile is more than just an online betting test to determine the likely champion of the year but it is a glimpse into the future of who may be the leader of the sophomore division and possibly the Kentucky Derby hero.

Distance is a mile and a sixteenth, purse is $2 million and the pressure will be on these babies from the moment they step onto the track.

Union City comes to the Breeder’s Cup betting Juvenile unbeaten and he will be very tough. The colt came from third to last to win the debut sprinting, proved it was no fluke taking the Saratoga Special by over 7 lengths, then took the Grade 1 Champagne in professional manner at a mile drawing away at will.

Trained by Barbaro’s mentor Michael Matz, he has a right to get the trip as kin Geefour was basically a sprinter but was only beaten three quarters at the Juvenile distance as a baby and kin Tempo West won at 8 and a half furlongs in a N2X at Belmont.

The Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita was a coming out party for Creative Cause, who upset the 3-5 chalk Drill and he did it going away.

Cause made amends for getting beat by Drill in the Del Mar Futurity but his Beyer in the Norfolk, 84, was his career lowest.

The blood is there for Cause to have a solid sportsbooks career as he is out of Grade 2 winner and over $1.1 million earning dam Dream of Summer.

Drill, meanwhile, is out of a winning dam that is kin to Grade 2 winner and near $250,000 earner Magic Storm.
Players should give extra attention to Hansen, who took the Bluegrass Cat at Turfway in late September by over 13 lengths after setting a very lively pace

Hansen’s dam won 2 of 3 starts and is kin to multiple stakes winner and near $400,000 earner Marry Me Do. The best thing Hansen may have going for him is his exceptional trainer, Michael Maker.

Aidan O’Brien has a pair of dangerous threats in the Juvenile named Crusade and Daddy Long Legs.

Crusade has beaten 15 foes now twice, the last in a Group 1 at Newmarket posting a 114 Racing Post Rating. His stablemate Daddy Long Legs beat 14 rivals in his debut, has won two of three career including a Group 2 win at a mile with a 112 Racing Post number.

Alpha will have revenge on his mind after just chasing Union Rags to the wire when forced to alter course. He graduated in a romp and he has a right to relish the Juvenile distance. His sibling Numaany won 9 of 34 starts, earned nearly $225,000, graduated at 9 furlongs and he also handled the off going winning a mile and a half race.

If online players find themselves shopping for a price, think about the streaking Fort Loudon, who has now won 4 in a row including a score at the Juvenile distance in a $300,000 stakes at Calder. He figures to be a big number but he has the blood to thrive, as his dam, Lotsa Talc, was a flat out win machine.

She won a number of Graded races, took 21 of 65 starts and banked over $1.2 million.
