Breeders Cup Ladies Classic Betting Tips – Love and Pride Holds Off Impressive Field

Posted by Marco Sussman on 10/28/2012 6:31:36 PM

Sports betting players checking out the Breeders Cup will wrap up Friday with the Ladies Classic, and in an excellent field that could rival the males, Love and Pride will emerge victorious at Santa Anita Park.

What: Horse Betting
When: November 2nd, post time TBA
Where: Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, CA
Pick: Love and Pride

Awesome Feather has never lost in her career, going 10-for-10, including the Breeders Cup Juvenile in 2012, and then she won the Grade-1 Gazelle Handicap in 2011. However, only two of the 10 starts that this four-year-old filly has made have been graded-stakes races, and one of those was in the Cup as a two-year-old. This will be a strong litmus test of just how good Awesome Feather is.

Class Included may be in a little over her head as she finished second in a maiden race in 2010, and then one month later, won an allowance race (both at Emerald Downs). However, she hasn’t made a start since and jumping back into the game in the most prestigious filly race of the year (although you could argue that the Kentucky Oaks could be bigger) is a lot to ask of this four-year-old. She’ll likely be way down the horse betting lines for this race, and that is all due to her inexperience.

On the other hand, Grace Hall has made nine starts and seven of them have been in graded-stakes races, all Grade-1 or Grade-2. She has five wins in nine starts, including in the Grade-2 Indiana Oaks, and she finished third in the Kentucky Oaks back in May. Grace Hall has been a very active three-year-old and if all goes well, she could not only win this race, but next year and arguably the next. That is, if everything goes well and that rarely happens in the world of horse racing.

Include Me Out is coming off a third-place run in the Grade-1 Zenyatta in September, and she has cooled off a little since winning her first three races of 2012, which were all Grade-1 or Grade-2 races. However, cooling off for Include Me Out is that third-place run, a win in the Grade-1 Clement L. Hirsch and a runner-up in the Grade-1 Vanity Handicap. That isn’t a bad resume to bring into the Classic and this four-year-old filly could be a threat in California.

It’ll be a busy Friday for In Lingerie, who is also entered in the Filly and Mare Turf race as well, so fatigue may factor into the Classic. She is coming off a win in the Grade-1 Spinster and she has never finished lower than third in seven career starts, five of which have been graded-stakes races (and only one of those was a Grade-3). In Lingerie is another three-year-old filly that could end up having quite the career if everything goes well.

Love and Pride has won three of her four races, and four of eight in 2012 overall. Don’t worry about a pair of fourth-place finishes you may see on her resume as those were in handicap races; Love and Pride, when it comes down to pure thoroughbred racing, can go with the best of them and this four-year-old filly (trained by Todd Pletcher, who also trains In Lingerie) could wind up being the horse betting favorite at Santa Anita Park. She also has a great pedigree: Love and Pride was sired by A.P. Indy, who won the Belmont Stakes, Jockey Club Gold Cup and Breeders Cup Classic in 1992.

My Miss Aurelia will also be a force to be reckoned with as she has never lost in six starts, including in three Grade-1 races and one of those was last year’s Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies, when she held off Grace Hall. This three-year-old has made just two starts in 2012, which is why you may not have heard much about her, but horse betting players in the know realize that My Miss Aurelia will be a factor in the Ladies Classic.

Questing finished second to My Miss Aurelia in the Grade-1 Cotillion in September, and prior to that, she won the Alabama Stakes and the Coaching Club American Oaks, both Grade-1 races. Questing also finished fifth in the Juvenile Fillies in 2011, but we’re not sure if she has what it takes to really test the top tier of thoroughbred fillies. Still, she could be worth a darkhorse bet.

Royal Delta is the defending champ in the Ladies Classic and has won three of her last four, a pair of Grade-2 races and the Beldame, which is a Grade-1. She has definitely bounced back after a disappointing ninth in the Grade-1 Dubai World Cup in March and this four-year-old filly has what it takes to repeat in the Breeders Cup.
