Who: Thoroughbreds – Tiz the Argument, Delightful Mary, Awesome Feather, Sweet Repent, It’s Me Mom, Pomeroys Pistol, Musical Romance, Beat the Blues, Zero Rate Policy, Apriority, Turbo Compressor, Mucho Macho Man, Ron the Greek
What: Horse Racing Betting Tips – The Florida Sunshine Millions Distaff, The Florida Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Sprint, The Florida Sunshine Millions Sprint, The Florida Sunshine Millions Classic
Where: Gulfstream Park
When: Saturday, January 28th

Contention runs deep in all four of Saturday’s Florida Sunshine Millions races carded for the Gulfstream Park main oval. We’ll try to capitalize on this situation with a Pick 3 (Races 5, 6, 7) and exactas/tri’s (Race 10).

#4-Awesome Feather (4-5) has never lost (8-for-8) and her handy score in the Grade 1 Gazelle last out proves she’s better than ever after an 11-month break (from November, 2010 to October, 2011). Still, she’s toting 123 lbs. in The Distaff and she’s in with some pretty nice fillies. #2-Tiz the Argument (3-1) is on a 3-race winning streak and the Rick Dutrow/Ramon Dominguez trainer/jockey combo is always dangerous. #3-Delightful Mary (5-1) has won three of her last four, including her Gulfstream Park debut last out. With earnings in excess of $435K, she must be respected. Then there’s the 6YO mare and defending champ #6-Sweet Repent (6-1), winner of 10-of-19 lifetime starts with earnings of more than $607K…whew! I’ll use all four to start off the Pick 3.

In The Filly and Mare Sprint, I’ll spread with four more. #1-It’s Me Mom (4-1) has won three straight, including a pair of 8 ¼-length romps at Tampa Bay Downs most recently. She continues to train sharply. #5-Pomeroys Pistol (3-1) loves this track (4-2-1-1, earnings of $225K), and has fired bullets since capturing the Grade 3 Sugar Swirl here last month. #6-Musical Romance (5-2) won the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint last out at odds of 20-1. She has been training forwardly at her Calder base. The main concern is that she’s missed the board in four tries locally. Finally there’s #7-Beat the Blues (6-1), sporting a pair of nice allowance wins to close out 2011. This will be her Gulfstream Park debut.

To close out the Pick 3, I’ll use the top two finishers from the Mr. Prospector. #6-Zero Rate Policy (3-1) and #7-Apriority (2-1) were separated by a nose in that affair, although Apriority had much the worst of it when stumbling badly at the start. Both love Gulfstream Park and both continue to train enthusiastically. The $1.00 Pick 3 ticket (Races 5, 6, 7) looks like this: 2,3,4,6/1,5,6,7/6,7 (Cost $32.00).

The most talented and accomplished horse in The Classic (Race 10) is #6-Mucho Macho Man (5-2). He returned from a 5-month break to wire a field of older allowance horses on the Aqueduct main track in early November. He has trained well locally since that time and appears set for a top effort. I’ll key him on top in exactas and tri’s over #3-Adios Charlie (3-1), #5-Turbo Compressor (2-1) and #7-Ron the Greek (5-1). A $1 Exacta 6/3,5,7 costs $3.00. A $1 Tri 6/3,5,7/3,5,7 costs $6.00.

Those are my horse racing betting tips for this weekend. Best of luck and happy gambling!
