Gotham Stakes Betting - Gotham City

Gotham City may be the fictional city best known for the home of Batman but there very well could be some heroic sports betting in the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct on Saturday.

This fixture over the years has been won by some superstars like Dr. Fager,  Easy Goer and Secretariat, who was the last Gotham winner to parlay to a success in the Kentucky Derby.

The last Gotham winner to win a classic race was Red Bullet in 2000 as he went on to cash in the Preakness.

Dan and Sheila is coming around for Todd Pletcher. He was impressive in his online sportsbook debut, was coming hard late in his first stakes try and has trained well at Palm Meadows for this event.

Pletcher’s other starter Raconteur worked in company with the 2011 Tom Fool winner Calibrachoa recently and was outfinished by that accomplished runner by a neck. Raconteur is 2 for 3 on this inner strip at the Big A.

Suns Out Guns Out is trying to beat winners as a maiden and although that happens now and again, it sure doesn’t occur every day.

King and Crusader has only run one poor race and that was off a layoff. In the right hands of Richard Dutrow, who had Big Brown, this guy is unbeaten this year and his speed was sharpened last time.

Side Road went second time Lasix in last and there was no detour to the charmed circle. Now he is facing winners.

My Adonis was compromised by the off going in his last race. He beat a soft field in his most recent win and is versatile enough to show speed or pass horses. He has trained fast of late.

Done Talking will have to walk the walk. He closed good ground in the Remsen but has to prove he can win on this circuit.

Pretension likes this inner strip and has a nice stalk and pounce style.

Tiger Walk was getting to the winner late in the Withers on the strip and in his only bad race he was hung wide from a bad post. He could find that fate again as he is out in post 13.

Finnegans Wake must prove it on dirt and his first effort vs. winners was just so-so.

Maan has done everything asked of him so far and he is bred to run as a $200,000 purchase. Look for another fine effort.

Stealcase looks up against it. He has been favored every time but just graduated at Gulfstream and will get tested for class. Runner brings a best of 46 bullet work to the party.

Juvenile champ Hansen will be a handful as he takes the blinkers off today.

He had to rush up in the Holy Bull and was understandably tired when getting beat by a good horse. He breezed strongly on 2/19 and his owner, Dr. Kendall Hansen had this to say in the Racing Form, Hansen: “His last breeze was strong. He actually ran another furlong. He was running 12-second furlongs and that’s his cruising speed. We were about 75% last time but we ran into a top horse in Algorithms.”

Hansen was short in his last race but can control the splits and the outcome here. Look for Ramon Dominguez to send and try to steal it. Key this guy on top in the trifecta with 5 others and try to get paid.

Those to use are Pretension, Maan, Dan and Sheila, Raconteur and King and Crusader.

Good luck with the online betting sites.
