Graded Stakes Betting - In It to Win It

No matter how sharp a runner may be in the days before the Kentucky Derby, sports betting online players have to know the facts about Graded stakes earnings and take that into consideration as to where connections place their charges in the days before the Derby.

The top 10 in Graded earnings will be in the gate the first Saturday in May and some interesting story lines have occurred with that in mind the last few years.

Two horses, Imawildancrazyguy and Make Music for Me just got in as the 20th horse in 2007 and 2010 respectively and both ran very credible fourths.

In 2008, Denis of Cork nearly hit the jackpot. He was the 20th in the gate but completed the trifecta.

This year it may take close to $200,000 in Graded earnings to run and that can be a big number to get to so early for even the most talented of sophomores.

This year, there are a few online sports book picks that are already sure of starting, horses like top contender Union Rags and Hansen will start if they stay healthy.

El Padrino, the Risen Star winner, will likely get into the gate but he will likely need some more earnings to do it. Through late February he had about $165,000 in the pocket but there are others chasing.

As far as the blood is concerned, this guy has the pedigree to get the trip. By A. P. Indy’s son Pulpit, and if you got deep on the bottom side of his pedigree, you’ll find a distaffer that won at a mile and a quarter. In the right hands of Todd Pletcher, online players should keep an eye on this runner.

Bob Baffert’s Castaway is right in range with $150,000 in earnings. It took this runner awhile to figure it out but he parlayed a clever maiden win to a victory in the Grade 3 Southwest at Oaklawn and he did it going away. By Street Sense and out of a Storm Cat mare, this colt kept his legs moving with a spin on March 2 and will be a factor if he continues to improve.

Castaway’s dam only won once, but she is kin to Master Command, who banked over $1.1 million and although he was never sent a mile and a quarter, he won several stakes at 9 furlongs and he did it by extending this winning margin in the stretch.

Disposablepleasure is right on the bubble at 21 with earnings of just over $132,000. He has trained nicely in Florida this winter and proved his maiden win was no fluke by taking a Grade 2 in his next and last start by a very game nose.

The runner is by Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo and that’s a bright spot to kick if off. This guy has a ton of classic-stamina blood in his veins and the feeling is he will run till the cows come home. Yet another Pletcher student, we all know the trainer will do everything he can to get this guy in the gate.

Other runners that will need to pick up the tempo in earnings are Team Valor’s Lucky Chappy, Pletcher’s Gemologist, Aidan O’Brien’s Daddy Long Legs, and just over $100,000 earner Longview Drive.

Try to keep betting website earnings in mind, as the days shorten before the huge payout.
