Super Derby Stakes Betting – Blueskiesnrainbows Shines Bright At Louisiana Downs

Sports betting players that follow horse racing have seen the Grade-2 Super Derby Stakes lose a little of its luster over recent years, but it still features some of the top three-year-olds on the scene. The 33rd running takes place Saturday at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City.

Blueskiesnrainbows is coming off a huge win in the Grade-2 Swaps Stakes at Hollywood Park, but a few horse betting experts would put that down to his quick start and the three-year-old seemed to tire down the stretch. He is trained by Bob Baffert, who won this race with Prayer for Relief last year.

Bourbon Courage finished second in the Grade-2 West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer, his first top-three finish in three graded-stakes races and trainer Kellyn Gorder has to find a regular jockey for this three-year-old colt as he has had different jockeys for all three races.

Fly Lexis Fly hasn’t been busy in 2012, finishing fifth in the Grade-3 Cougar II Handicap at Del Mar about a month and a half ago in his only start. It was also his first start outside of Peru, where Fly Lexis Fly raced throughout his entire two-year-old campaign, and much like athletes, horses have to take time to get used to new surroundings.

Hero of Order should be well-known to horse betting players as this will be his 19th start, but he is coming off a fifth-place result in the West Virginia Derby and has just one top-three finish in his past three starts.

To say that Key Donation is green in the world of racing may be an understatement as this will be the third start of his career, finishing 11th in a maiden race at the Fair Grounds, but Key Donation won the Super Derby Prelude at Louisiana Downs.

Master Rick finished fourth in the Super Derby Prelude, and he’ll be looking for his first top-three finish in a graded-stakes race after going 0-for-2 so far in 2012. He came in ninth in the Grade-2 Peter Pan and then fifth in the Grade-3 Matt Winn.

Mr. Bluegrass Music also took part in the Prelude, coming in third, and it was his fourth third-place result in five career starts. This is a good chance for Mr. Bluegrass Music to get over the hump and claim a victory against an above-average field, and his showing in the Prelude was very promising.

This will be the seventh start of 2012 for Rousing Sermon, who finished eighth in the Kentucky Derby back in May and his past two starts have yielded a fourth-place finish in the Grade-2 Swaps and a second-place run in the Real Good Deal. Mike Smith was on his back for both races, and Rousing Sermon could be a threat if paired with Smith once again.

Tensas Cold Front will be making his fourth career starts after winning his maiden and an allowance race, and then he came in second in the Prelude. This three-year-old gelding has been flying under the radar due to his inexperience, but Tensas Cold Front could be a strong contender from start to finish on Saturday.

Blueskiesnrainbows is riding the momentum from a win and trained by one of the very best in the game, so he would be a smart online betting pick on Saturday in Louisiana.
