How To Bet On UFC 152 – UFC 152 Preliminary Card On FX Worth Tuning In To

Posted by Jack “The Hammer” Howard on 9/20/2012 7:45:42 PM

After a six-week layoff caused by the cancellation of UFC 151, the biggest MMA promotion in the world is set to make its return to Toronto, Ontario, Canada for UFC 152: Jones vs. Belfort. With one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world set to defend his title in the main event, there will be no shortage of excitement leading up to this card, including a surprisingly deep betting preliminary card that will be broadcast on FX.

Featherweight Bout
Jimy Hettes (10-0-0) vs. Marcus Brimage (5-1-0)

The preliminary card on FX will begin with one of the rising young stars in the UFC featherweight division in the undefeated Hettes. The 25-year old has recorded 10-straight wins to open his professional career including his first two in the UFC, and after back-to-back wins over Alex Caceres and Nam Phan is ready to take on an opponent that is also undefeated in the UFC in Brimage. Brimage has won his first two UFC tilts via decision, but could be vulnerable against the submission specialist Hettes, who has clinched nine of his 10 sports betting victories by making his opponent tap.

UFC Betting Pick: Jimy Hettes

Welterweight Bout
Sean Pierson (12-6-0) vs. Lance Benoist (6-1-0)

If the crowd wasn’t already cranked up after the first tilt, they will be by the time the hometown favorite Pierson makes his way to the Octagon for his 19th career fight. The 36-year old veteran rebounded from consecutive losses with a win over Jake Hecht this past June, and while he is no longer in his prime, the Toronto, Ontario-native is still capable of putting on a show with tons of friends and family in his corner. Pierson will have the edge in both experience and crowd support, and could surprise against a potentially vulnerable Benoist, who is still very young at 24 and is coming off his first career loss.

UFC Betting Pick: Sean Pierson

Lightweight Bout
TJ Grant (18-5-0) vs. Evan Dunham (13-2-0)

The only lightweight bout on the entire card will feature another Canadian in Grant, who will have his hands full against a submission specialist in Dunham. Dunham is coming off consecutive wins including a second-round TKO over Nik Lentz in January, and even though Grant has looked good since making the switch to the lightweight division with a pair of wins, this will be his toughest opponent so far.

UFC Betting Pick: Evan Dunham

Light Heavyweight Bout
Igor Pokrajac (25-8-0) vs. Vinny Magalhaes (9-5-1)

A fight that has the potential to be on the main card, Pokrajac has won three-straight including a pair of knockout victories, and he faces a tough opponent looking to make the successful transition to the UFC in Magalhaes. The Brazilian Magalhaes has won five-straight, four of which came in M-1, but is more of a technical fighter than a pure brawler like Pokrajac. The Croatian Pokrajac will be smart enough to avoid going to the ground when possible, and with eight of his 13-career sportsbook wins coming via knockout there is no doubt he has the advantage standing.

UFC Betting Pick: Igor Pokrajac
