Sports betting players will get UFC 127 off to a good start on February 26th in Sydney with a preliminary card featuring fighters from all around the globe, showing off how far the sport of MMA has come. There are a native of Australia, a fighter from New Zealand, a couple of Englishmen, and one fighter each from Canada, Poland, Sweden, Japan, China and of course, the United States.

  • What: UFC Betting
  • Where: Acer Arena, Sydney, Australia
  • When: February 26th, 2011

James Te-Huna vs. Alexander Gustafsson

Te-Huna (12-4, seven KOs), from New Zealand, defeated Igor Pokrajac in his first UFC fight at UFC 110, which was in February 2010, while Gustafsson (10-1, seven KOs) bounced back from a loss to Phil Davis by submitting Cyrille Diabate at UFC 120 in October. This should be an exciting fight as both like to come out swinging, but we’re going to give the edge to Te-Huna, who has a wrestling background and he can get Gustafsson to the ground, which is what hurt the Swede in his loss to Davis. Also, the crowd will be behind Te-Huna, who is looking to use a win over Gustafsson in this light-heavyweight tilt to get his first fight in the United States

Betting Edge: James Te-Huna

Nick Ring vs. Riki Fukuda

Ring (10-0, two KOs), from Canada, was on the 11th season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, and he will be making his debut on a real UFC card, although he’s obviously not going to start on a pay-per-view. Fukada (17-4, seven KOs), from China, will also be making his UFC debut in this middleweight contest, and this will be a clash of Ring’s Muay Thai style that has fueled five submissions in his 10 wins. Fukuda studies in shoot wrestling, but has plenty of knockout power, and we’re going to give the edge to Fukada based on experience. He has fought better fighters in the past, and we think this will go all three rounds.

Betting Edge: Riki Fukuda

Maciej Jewtuszko vs. Curt Warburton

Jewtuszko (8-0, four KOs), from Poland, has been rolling through his competition in Poland and Germany with six fights ending in the first round, and he also has four submissions. Warburton (6-2, four KOs) has only fought in his native England, and he lost his UFC betting debut at UFC 120 to Spencer Fisher in a decision. Jewtuszko will be looking to use his Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai striking to battle Warburton, who is a very tough guy who has gone the distance in his last two fights after going one round in his first six. This is going to be a very close fight and with everything that is at stake in this lightweight clash, it’s going to be exciting, but we’re giving the edge to Warburton, who gave Fisher all he could handle and that will serve him well against Jewtuszko.

Betting Edge: Curt Warburton

Anthony Perosh vs. Tom Blackledge

Perosh (10-6, three KOs) will have the crowd on his side in this light-heavyweight fight, as he is from Australia, but he is back at 205 pounds after losing to Mirko “Cro-Cop” Filipovic in a heavyweight tilt at UFC 110. All three of his fights in the UFC have been heavyweight bouts, and he’ll be facing a tough customer in Blackledge (10-6, five KOs), who is a teammate of Warburton’s as well. Both of these guys will look to end this fight early; Perosh has gone the distance in two of his 16 fights, while Blackledge has never went three rounds, and his last 12 fights have ended in the first round. Again, we’re going with the crowd favorite in Perosh, who looks much better at 205 pounds than as a heavyweight, and this could be the best fight on the preliminary card.

Betting Edge: Anthony Perosh

Zhang Tie Quan vs. Jason Reinhardt

Quan (12-1, three KOs), from China, and an American, Reinhardt (20-1, four KOs), will be breaking the ice for the featherweight division in the UFC, and fight fans will be able to see a pair of submission artists at work. Quan suffered a loss in his last fight to Danny Downes in the WEC, and that was the first fight for Quan that didn’t end in the first round, while Reinhardt has had just one fight go past the first round. These two were supposed to fight at WEC 51, but Reinhardt failed an eye test, so here we are in the UFC. Both will obviously be going for a submission, but the edge goes to Reinhardt, who we feel has more knockout power, and he should be the pick in your online betting book.

Betting Edge: Jason Reinhardt
