ufc 132 betting

Online betting players should get a few exciting fights on the undercard of UFC 132, which will be headlined by a main event between bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, who handed Cruz the only loss of his career. Here are some quick picks for the undercard.

  • What: UFC Betting
  • When: Saturday, July 2nd
  • Where: MGM Grand, Las Vegas

Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1-1) vs. Chris Leben (25-7)

Don’t expect much technique in what is sure to be a middleweight slugfest between the legendary Silva and Leben, who asked for this fight. Silva, from Brazil, is favored at -170 due to his experience and a victorious debut at 185 pounds over Michael Bisping, but he also has lost five of his last seven, including four by KO. Leben has three “KO of the Night” honors and is always up for a brawl, although he did get knocked out by Brian Stann. This will be a barnburner.

Betting Edge: Chris Leben +140

Tito Ortiz (15-8-1) vs. Ryan Bader (12-1)

Bader is a huge -500 favorite in this light heavyweight affair against Ortiz, a former champion at 205 pounds, but he has four losses and a draw in his last five fights, so he’ll probably be fighting for his UFC career. Bader was rolling through the division before running into the buzzsaw that is champion Jon Jones, but “The Ultimate Fighter 8” winner is a formidable wrestler who is improving his stand-up, and he has knockout power along with submissions. Say good night to the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy”, who needs to call it quits.

Betting Edge: Ryan Bader -500

Carlos Condit (26-5) vs. Dong Hyun Kim (14-0-1-1)

Kim is a slight -120 favorite in this welterweight encounter, and he has gone the distance in his last three fights over T.J. Grant, Amir Sadollah and Nate Diaz. Condit, the former WEC welterweight champ, lost his UFC debut to Martin Kampmann in April 2009, and has since won three in a row, including knockouts of Rory MacDonald and Dan Hardy, two very tough individuals. The South Korean Kim will try to play a patient game with his judo, while Condit is well-rounded and can either score the KO or a submission, and he will hand Kim his first professional loss in this UFC betting affair.

Betting Edge: Carlos Condit -110

Dennis Siver (18-7) vs. Matt Wiman (13-5)

Siver is favored at -130 against fellow lightweight Wiman, and both have won their last three fights. Siver, from Germany, was excellent against George Sotiropoulous in his native Australia, and he did a spectacular job of stuffing Sotiropoulous’ takedown attempts, which will come in handy against Wiman, a wrestler who has submission skills, although he does have knockout power. After Siver’s performance against Sotiropoulous, he gets the edge because unless Wiman can take him down, he won’t have much success against the German.

Betting Edge: Dennis Siver -130

Melvin Guillard (27-8-2-1) vs. Shane Roller (10-3)

In another lightweight tilt, Guillard is favored at -280 according to UFC betting odds, and he loves to go for the highlight-reel knockout as he has won “KO of the Night” twice in his career. Roller is a wrestler who has won six of his 10 victories by submission, but he did win the “KO of the Night” in his last match against Thiago Tavares in March. Still, he doesn’t want to stand up with Guillard, who has a lot of experience for a guy who is only 28, three years younger than Roller, and he is also comfortable on the mat.

Betting Edge: Melvin Guillard -280

George Sotiropoulous (14-3) vs. Rafael dos Anjos (14-5)

The Australian Sotiropoulous may be favored in this all-international lightweight clash, and he was dominated by Siver in his home country; once Siver stopped his takedown attempts, Sotiropoulous had no second option. dos Anjos, from Brazil, hasn’t fought since August, when he had his jaw broken by Clay Guida, but he had won three in a row prior to that. If you like Brazilian jiu-jitsu, these two are black belts, so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes when the two hit the mat. If Sotiropoulous worked on his striking, he should win this handily.

Betting Edge: George Sotiropoulous

Brian Bowles (9-1) vs. Takeya Mizugaki (14-5-2)

The bantamweights get the call in this contest as Bowles should be favored against Mizugaki, who has won three of his last six, including a split decision over Reuben Duran in his UFC debut in March. Bowles was undefeated before losing the WEC bantamweight title to current champion Dominick Cruz, then he earned “Submission of the Night” against Damacio Page in his debut (it was his second win over Page, and both were by guillotine). Look for Bowles to end the fight and boost his profile in the 135-pound division as he aims for rematch against Cruz, but he just wants a shot at the belt.

Betting Edge: Brian Bowles

Brad Tavares (7-0) vs. Aaron Simpson (8-2)

These two warriors are looking to move up the ranks at 185 pounds, and Tavares came onto the scene by reaching the semifinals of “The Ultimate Fighter 11”. He is also coming off a knockout of Phil Baroni, while Simpson bounced back from two losses in a row with a decision win over Mario Miranda. Simpson has a strong wrestling background, but he has won a “KO of the Night” before, while Tavares can also wrestle, but he loves his Muay Thai, which means he’s going to try to keep this standing up.

Betting Edge: Brad Tavares

Anthony Njokuani (13-5-0-1) vs. Andre Winner (11-5-1-0)

In another all-international affair (and the fourth lightweight fight of the night), Njokuani is from Nigeria while Winner was born in Grenada, but raised in England. Njokuani has dropped three of his last four, including his UFC debut against Edson Barboza in March in a “Fight of the Night” that went the distance. Winner has lost his last two fights, and three of his last five overall, but he may need to put on a show to stay in the good graces of president Dana White. Njokuani, a Muay Thai specialist, will be more than willing to scrap, and he should be the pick in your sports betting book.

Betting Edge: Anthony Njokuani
