UFC 158 Betting Predictions – Native Son Cote Will Have Crowd Behind Him In UFC 158 Undercard

Posted by Jack “The Hammer” Howard on 3/12/2013 7:50:15 PM

The UFC 158: St. Pierre vs. Diaz event is right around the corner, and MMA sports betting fans can’t wait for the action to begin. While most of the talk has been centered on the welterweight division and the championship main event in particular, the preliminary card is stacked with fights that fans will appreciate tuning in to see.

Preliminary Card on FX

(18-8-0) Patrick Cote vs. Bobby Voelker (24-8-0)

Welterweight Division

The hometown fans will be on their feet when Rimouski, Quebec-native Patrick “The Predator” returns to the Octagon to take on Bobby Voelker in the final fight before the main card begins. Cote has won five of his last six online sportsbook fights including two via knockout, and is looking to take out a UFC opponent for the first time after scoring his first win in the promotion over Alessio Sakara via disqualification for punches to the back of the head at UFC 154 at this same venue back in November.

UFC Betting Pick: Patrick Cote

(15-2-0) Darren Elkins vs. Antonio Carvalho (15-5-0)
Featherweight Division

Whether or not Carvalho has what it takes to get past Elkins and log an important win will be one of the more interesting online betting stories of the preliminary card, especially since he barely got past Rodrigo Damm via split decision. Elkins has won four-straight fights since making the move to the featherweight division, and he should be able to handle what Carvalho brings to the Octagon.

UFC Betting Pick: Antonio Carvalho

(21-6-1) Dan Miller vs. Jordan Mein (26-8-0)
Welterweight Division

Mein has a pretty impressive resume including 26-career wins, 14 of which were scored via knockout. However, he has never competed in the UFC, and he went just 2-1 in the Strikeforce with only one knockout win in three fights. Miller remains one of the most underrated fighters in the UFC with his mix of brains and brawn, and he should be able to keep it going after bouncing back from consecutive losses to submit Ricardo Funch at the UFC on FX event last June. Miller is at his best when he is aggressive and controls the tempo of the fight, so look for him to come out strong and take it to Mein.

UFC Betting Pick: Dan Miller

(12-2-0) Daron Cruickshank vs. John Makdessi (10-2-0)
Lightweight Division

Makdessi has an excellent record with 10 wins in his 12-career fights, but his only two losses have come in his last three trips to the Octagon, where he struggled against both Dennis Hallman and Anthony Njokuani. Makdessi did bounce back with a win over Sam Stout in his last bout, but Stout has been very inconsistent of late, and that fight went to a judges decision. Cruickshank has given UFC fans a glimpse of his potential with an impressive showing at the TUF 15, and has put together six-straight wins overall, so look for him to take it to Makdessi and prove why he is the more promising talent between these two.

UFC Betting Pick: Daron Cruikshank
