Tate, Barboza Among The Best Bets For UFC On FOX: Dillashaw Versus Barao 2

Posted by on 7/23/2015 9:56:56 PM

The Ultimate Fighting Championship will make its return to the United Center in Chicago, Illinois for its fourth show on FOX with a stacked main card that is headlined by the rematch that will pit UFC Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw up against Renan Barao in a title fight. The first fight between these two was an absolute thrill to watch as the underdog Dillashaw shocked the world and earned Upset of the Year honors with a TKO win. The stakes will be just as high the second time around only this time it’s Dillashaw listed as the favorite. Here is a preview of the UFC on FOX: Dillashaw vs. Barao 2 main card with the best bets for each bout.

Bantamweight Championship Bout

(11-2-0) TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao (33-2-0)

Dillashaw followed up his TKO win over Barao by taking out Joe Soto and there is no doubt now that the former Division I wrestler has evolved in to one of the most dangerous pound-for-pound fighters in the UFC. Dillashaw has evolved from a pure wrestler to an incredibly dangerous striker and his ability to change his approach and use his quick feet to readjust and keep opponents off guard is a big part of what makes him so special. Many considered Barao to be the next big thing when he won the UFC Bantamweight title and while he still deserves to be considered among the best the problem now is that a potentially better fighter stands in his way of the title. Dillashaw shocked the world as an underdog the first time these two met but the betting odds seem more appropriate this time around and it won’t be nearly as surprising when he wins this fight and retains his title more than likely via decision.

Pick: TJ Dillashaw -220

Women’s Bantamweight Bout

(16-5-0) Miesha Tate vs. Jessica Eye (11-2-0)

The former No. 1 contender Tate is looking for another opportunity at the champion Ronda Rousey and a win over Eye at this UFC on FOX event will likely put her over the top. Tate has strung together three straight wins over Liz Carmouche, Rin Nakal and Sara McMann to climb the ladder and considering Eye’s takedown defense isn’t nearly good enough to prevent an excellent wrestler like Tate from having her way in this fight there is every reason to expect Tate to maintain control and earn another decision win as well as a title shot in the process.

Pick: Miesha Tate -200

Lightweight Bout

(15-3-0) Edson Barboza vs. Paul Felder (10-0-0)

Felder is a rising star in the UFC lightweight division but after reeling off 10 straight wins to open his professional career it’s about to get a lot tougher for him against an established opponent in Barboza. The veteran Barboza is an incredible athlete that has been blessed with outstanding speed and power and while Felder is a farely slick striker he will have a tough time keeping pace. Felder’s counter skills are strong enough to think that he will make this a very entertaining fight but Barboza has the edge in pure striking with his speed and power and should find a way to win this fight either via knockout or decision.

Pick: Edson Barboza -140

Lightweight Bout

(24-10-0) Joe Lauzon vs. Takanori Gomi (35-10-0)

Both of these fighters are coming off knockout losses with Lauzon losing to Al Iaquinta and Gomi losing to Myles Jury and with both fighters nearing the end of their careers and with each having a tendency to want to slug it out it won’t be a surprise if this fight ends in a knockout. Gomi is a talented fighter than can hold his own but Lauzon is more well rounded and his offense should be strong enough to get back on track with a victory in this bout to begin the main card.

Pick: Joe Lauzon -250
