World Cup Finals Betting – Look For All South-American Final Between Argentina, Brazil

Some online betting players may be surprised to know that Brazil and Argentina have met just three times in the World Cup, and never in a final, given that they have seven titles between them. Their last meeting in the World Cup came in 1982, and the two could be on a collision course to bring the trophy back to South American.

When it comes down to head-to-head meetings overall, it’s as even as you can get: Brazil and Argentina have met 55 times, with each side winning 33 and drawing 22 matches, and Argentina has outscored the Samba Kings 143-137. Most of the players are familiar with each other as a lot of players on either side play in Italy and Spain, although Argentina has a few players that ply their trade in the English Premiership.

World Cup betting players will be in awe of the attacking talent on each side: for Argentina, they can trot out the likes of Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, Diego Milito and Carlos Tevez, while Brazil will go with Robino, Luis Fabiano and Kaka. The Brazilian way of attack, however, is different from how Argentina goes after their opponents. Argentina prefers to work through the middle, usually through Messi, who has a free role to pick up the ball and lose his markers. It’s also down to Juan Sebastien Veron to set the tempo with his passing in midfield. This was done by Juan Roman Riquelme, but he left the team in November due to disagreements with manager Diego Maradona. Brazil can go through the middle via Kaka and even Robinho, but their strength has always come in their fullbacks’ ability and willingness to make marauding overlapping runs down the flanks, and you saw this in their first match against North Korea, who congested the middle. Fullback Maicon was the Man of the Match, scoring a goal and causing problems for anyone trying to track his runs.

The managers are also very familiar with each other as Diego Maradona and Dunga met on the pitch numerous times while playing for their countries. Both are also trying to join German legend Franz Beckenbauer as the only men to win the World Cup as a manager, and as a captain. Maradona led the 1986 Argentineans to the victory, while Dunga raised the World Cup for Brazil in 1994. You can see their playing styles through their team: like Maradona, La Albiceleste is an attack-minded squad, and if you can’t see the similarities between Maradona and Messi, you’re watching the wrong sport. Meanwhile, Brazil still has the attacking flair, but Dunga now has two defensive midfielders, which is the position he played. It will be an interesting contrast of styles and personalities, that’s for sure.

So, who will be favored in this World Cup contest? It’s far too close to call, but you have to think that Brazil would be the favorite, considering they’re the No.1-ranked team according to FIFA. Argentina sits back in seventh, but a lot of how the odds will be decided comes down to how these two play throughout the World Cup. There should also be a camera in the stands on both groups of supporters will be ready to go, as this is one of the most bitter rivalries in all of international sports. Messi and Kaka will be the players to watch, while Argentina has to figure out a way of slowing down the Brazilian fullbacks. The Brazilians played their first match with three defenders, but if they choose to do that against Argentina, that could leave them exposed as the defensive midfielders will have to cover for the fullbacks, which creates lots of space for Messi in the midfield, just behind the strikers. This is the event that sports betting players have been waiting for, and we’re calling for Argentina to lift their third World Cup trophy.
